About school

Akhmet Zhubanov repuplican Kazakh specialized music school for gifted children was created in 1964 with the direct participation of professor, composer, academician Akhmet Kuanovich Zhubanov and bears his name. The school’s task is to give classical music education in Kazakh to children from the depths of the Republic. Since the foundation of the school, about 1000 musicians have graduated. Over 800 are laureates of International, Republican contests and festivals.

At present, 485 students from different areas are studying at the school, of which about 200 live in a boarding school. There are 10 departments in the school: “Musical-theoretical disciplines”, “Violins and viola”, “Cello and double bass”, “Special piano”, “Wind and percussion instruments”, “Folk instruments”, “Obligatory piano”, “Choral conducting”, “Concertmaster craftsmanship.”

School graduates form the basis of most musical groups and educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, many of them continued their studies in the countries of near and far abroad: Russia, Germany, France.

The competition of performers is held in the nominations: folk instruments, special piano, string instruments and wind instruments.

During the competition, the geography of the participating countries has expanded significantly – this is Russia, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus. The jury consisted of prominent cultural figures, such as a professor at the Moscow State Conservatory. P. Sevidov, People’s Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor of the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy – Gulzhamilya Ikhsanovna Kadyrbekova, People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, Honored Worker of the Kyrgyz Republic, Laureate of the International Competition of Central Asia and Kazakhstan – Polina Abramovna Tsokurenko, People’s Artist Republic of Kazakhstan, professor KNK named after Kurmangazy Klushkin Yuri Stepanovich, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, professor of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan Salikhov Bakhodir Sabirovich and others.
